Astoria Park
A 60-acre waterfront park on the East River between the Hell Gate and RFK/Triborough bridges. It contains Astoria Pool, the largest public pool in New York City, built for the 1936 WPA program.
Why it matters
Astoria Pool hosted the U.S. Olympic swimming trials in 1936 and 1964 and is a designated New York City landmark. The park's Shore Boulevard promenade offers one of the best skyline views in the city.
