What stands on this ground, and why it's worth knowing.

SportsSouth Ozone Park

Aqueduct Racetrack

A thoroughbred horse racing track opened in 1894 and operated by the New York Racing Association, nicknamed 'the Big A.' It is the only thoroughbred track within New York City limits.

Why it matters

Aqueduct carried New York racing through the winter for generations and hosted the Wood Memorial, a key Kentucky Derby prep. Its grounds also host Resorts World, and the site is being significantly redeveloped.

110-00 Rockaway Boulevard, South Ozone Park, NY 11420

Racing operations at Aqueduct have been in flux: NYRA has been consolidating thoroughbred racing at a rebuilt Belmont Park, and Aqueduct's future as a racing venue is uncertain. Verify current race meets before publishing.

FoodRichmond Hill

Little Guyana (Liberty Avenue)

The Indo-Caribbean commercial corridor along Liberty Avenue in Richmond Hill and South Ozone Park, dense with Guyanese and Trinidadian roti shops, bakeries, groceries and gold merchants under the elevated A train.

Why it matters

Home to the largest Guyanese community outside Guyana and the center of Indo-Caribbean life in the United States. A stretch of Liberty Avenue was co-named Little Guyana Avenue in 2021.

A commercial district rather than a single site. Coordinate is the Liberty Avenue and Lefferts Boulevard intersection at the corridor's center, geocoded via OpenStreetMap.

VenueSouth Ozone Park

Resorts World New York City

A casino and entertainment complex adjoining Aqueduct Racetrack, opened in 2011 as a video lottery terminal facility. In December 2025 it received one of three New York State downstate casino licenses and it began operating as a full-scale commercial casino in April 2026.

Why it matters

The first full casino within New York City limits and the largest single private employer in southeast Queens, it has reshaped the economics of the Aqueduct site.

Overlaps are computed by land area — near a boundary, check your exact address. Every state and federal seat here is on the ballot November 3, 2026. These are the sitting officeholders, not projected winners.

Boundaries: NYC Dept. of City Planning via NYC Open Data (May 2026). Officeholders verified against official sources on 2026-08-06. District overlaps are computed by area and are approximate near boundaries.
