Forest Park
A 538-acre park along the Harbor Hill terminal moraine, containing one of the largest continuous oak forests in Queens. It has a Frederick Law Olmsted-influenced design, a golf course, bridle paths and a restored 1903 carousel.
Why it matters
Its old-growth oak stands are among the last remnants of the forest that covered central Queens, and the Forest Park Carousel is a New York City landmark, one of only two surviving carousels carved by Daniel Muller.
Woodhaven Boulevard and Forest Park Drive, Woodhaven, NY 11421
